The Grayton Beach Session Experience

Looking for a Grayton Beach photographer who loves the old-Florida side of 30A? Grayton Beach, Florida is the oldest beach town on Scenic Highway 30A, and it still feels that way: weathered cottages under live oaks, sandy lanes, the Red Bar, and Grayton Beach State Park with its towering dunes and the outfall of Western Lake into the Gulf.

I am Amanda, your Santa Rosa Beach photographer, and Grayton Beach is minutes from home. Grayton is where I send families who want wild dunes and big sunset color instead of manicured boardwalks, and it is one of the best beaches on the Emerald Coast for senior pictures.

GRAYTON BEACH FAMILIES

GRAYTON BEACH FAMILY BEACH SESSIONS

Grayton Beach family photos usually start in the dunes and sea oats of Grayton Beach State Park and finish at the water as the sun goes down over Western Lake. I keep it relaxed and playful so the kids stay happy (and the grumpy dads stay tolerable), and I guide you into natural moments instead of stiff poses. As your Grayton Beach family photographer, my goal is a gallery that looks like your vacation felt.

Grayton Beach SENIORS

GRAYTON BEACH SENIOR PORTRAITS

Grayton Beach senior pictures are pure coastal Florida: sugar-white dunes, sea oats, driftwood and that famous emerald water. Add the painted cottages and sandy lanes in town for a second look. Bring two to five outfits and let your personality lead. Every Grayton Beach senior session is guided, fun and built around the images you will actually want to frame.

Grayton Beach Engagements

GRAYTON BEACH ENGAGEMENT & COUPLES SESSIONS

Grayton Beach engagement photos and surprise proposals feel wild and romantic against the dunes. If you are planning a proposal at Grayton Beach, I will scout the spot, hide in plain sight, capture the yes, and then move you both into a full engagement session as the light drops. Couples sessions here are some of my favorite images to shoot on all of 30A.

Grayton Beach Bumps + Babies

GRAYTON BEACH MATERNITY & NEWBORN SESSIONS

Grayton Beach maternity photos use the wind, the dunes and the wide-open sand for flowing dresses and soft movement. For newborn beach sessions I keep it short, close to where you are staying and fully guided, and I bring the wraps, baskets and props so all you need to do is show up. Bump or baby, this is a beautiful place to remember this season.

Where We Shoot in Grayton Beach

Grayton Beach gives us dunes, lake, Gulf and old-Florida town in a few minutes of walking. My favorite Grayton Beach photo locations:

  • Grayton Beach State Park — tall dunes, sea oats and driftwood with unbeatable sunset color
  • Western Lake outfall — where the coastal dune lake meets the Gulf, with mirror reflections at sunset
  • Grayton Beach town lanes — sandy streets, weathered cottages and live oaks for a vintage Florida look
  • Grayton Beach public access — a wide, uncrowded stretch of sand for the last hour of light
  • WaterColor + Blue Mountain Beach — both within five minutes for a second look in the same session

Grayton Beach Photography FAQs

Do you need a permit for photos at Grayton Beach State Park?

Grayton Beach State Park charges a small per-vehicle entry fee, and portrait sessions inside the park are allowed for personal use. As a Grayton Beach photographer I keep sessions small and off the protected dunes, using the walkovers and the open beach. The public beach access in town needs no fee or permit.

What time of day is best for Grayton Beach photos?

The last hour before sunset is the most flattering light at Grayton Beach, and the sun sets over Western Lake and the dunes for extra color. Sunrise is a great option for families with young kids in summer because the beach is empty and cool.

How much does a Grayton Beach photographer cost?

My Grayton Beach sessions start with a session deposit that reserves your date and is credited toward your digital collection. Digital collections start at $1,475 for family, engagement, maternity and newborn sessions and $1,975 for senior sessions. No travel fee anywhere on 30A.

Where are the best photo spots in Grayton Beach?

The dunes and beach at Grayton Beach State Park, the Western Lake outfall, the sandy lanes and cottages in town, and the public beach access at sunset. Most sessions cover two or three of these in about an hour.

How far in advance should we book a Grayton Beach session?

Grayton Beach sunset slots fill fast in spring break, summer and fall. Reach out as soon as you have your travel dates so we can lock in the best light. I keep a few sunrise openings for last-minute vacationers.

She works absolute magic!

She works absolute magic on my family — always producing art that captures where we are in the most genuine and beautiful way. She takes all the hard parts out of it for us — wasted time, toiling over outfits, keeping the kids engaged. It’s like Christmas to receive the images! ALWAYS rave reviews from everyone who sees them.
